Pop Culture Tattoos

The characters
you grew up with.

Pop culture is some of the most personal tattoo work there is. It might be the film you watched a hundred times, the game that got you through a bad year or the cartoon you still quote. We tattoo all of it at Broken Puppet, from Star Wars and Marvel to Pokemon, Studio Ghibli and Peaky Blinders.

Rick Shaw does realistic portraits and big movie and comic sleeves. Sarah Peters brings neo traditional and stipple takes on classic characters. Zoe does pixel art, anime and tiny minis. Every piece is drawn for you, in the style that suits the character.

Four ways to do it

Pick the style,
then the character.

Rick Shaw
Film and TV realism
Faces, costumes and whole scenes in colour or black and grey. Rick's portraits of Yoda, Gandalf and the Mandalorian are built from tone and detail so the character is instantly recognisable.

Neo traditional portraits
Bold line, rich colour and a decorative frame. Characters like Lagertha, Mary Poppins and Elvis and Marilyn get the neo traditional treatment, with flowers, props and a touch of attitude.

Questions

Before you book

Can you tattoo my favourite film, game or anime character?

Yes. Send us a still, a screenshot or some reference and tell us where it is going. We will redraw it as a tattoo that suits the part of the body and the style you choose, rather than copying the image flat.

How much does a pop culture tattoo cost?

It depends on the size, the style and how much detail there is, so we quote after a free consultation. A tiny pixel icon and a full movie sleeve are very different jobs, and we will give you an honest price before anything is booked.

Can pop culture tattoos be small?

Yes. Zoe does miniature pixel, stipple and fine line pieces that work at a few centimetres. We will tell you honestly how small a design can go before the detail stops reading.

Can you do a full sleeve or a collage of characters?

Yes. Rick has done full movie and comic sleeves, including colour realism pieces that pull several films together. We plan these in sections and talk through the layout with you first.
